Winchester walkies

Today we headed up to Winchester for Geocaching Sunday. It was a little bit rainy but not too bad, for some reason Dad came out in a stupid hat - Dad's do try to embarrass you though don't they?:

After finally reaching 500 caches in our first year of geocaching I thought it was a bit lame we were only trying for 6 today. Mind you Mum didn't seem to be her bouncy self so maybe it was just as well.

A lot of the walking was in the woods so I went for zoomies for quite a lot of the walk. The first cache we did was a mystery cache Follow the Path of Least Resistancethat Dad solved but Mum ended up spotting:

Daddy was VERY pleased because it was an ammo tin and these are his favourite! Little dis he know he was going to be very lucky as 4 of the 6 geocaches were indeed ammo cans today - just look at his big grin:

When we were on our way to one of our finds we came across this:

Turned out it wasn't MASSIVE stickoflague but a cool little stick house, here I am inside:

The third cache we tries to do was tricky as it had a couple of scary guardians:

I had to wait nearby with mum whilst dad crept in to try and do the cache. Mum suggested he use the hint to limit the time he was near them. Turns out it was near the tree by the lying down bull! BOL Poor daddy didn't spend long near that ammo can!

Then we moved on and up, although it's a bit cloudy you can see there were lovely views:

And at one of the caches called A horse named "Beware Chalk Pit" where there was this big monument:

You can just make out me- I raced straight up to it!

Turns out the whole monument was built over the grave of this horse. the horse apparently fell down a 25ft deep chalk pit unscathed and went on to race and win the following year! You can read more about him Here

I hope when I go over the rainbow mum and dad ensure they do something as significant for me!!!!!

  1. what a fab day's geocaching & how brilliant to have so many "proper" ones! Most of them near us are silly little ones :-/ Lovely photos.
